Until the peasant uprising of 1911 leading to modern government, China was ruled by emperors from families, or dynasties. Each dynasty had its own styles and specific culture that pertained to the citizens, as well as the rulers, and most were based somewhat directly on the principles of Confucianism. Each person had his or her place in society, and the civilization thrived for over 3,000 years by this hierarchical order. Even today, China's long-lasting imperialism still has a great effect on its government and education systems. China was built on the rights of its people and the responsibilities of its ruler.
